REGISTER FOR THE ECTA 41ST ANNUAL CONFERENCE! INTERVIEW WITH PÉTER LUKÁCSI, MODERATOR OF THE SESSION ‘EU CASE LAW UPDATE’
01/06/2023
The ECTA 41st Annual Conference is just around the corner! If you have not yet registered, don’t miss out and secure your spot HERE!

After two full days of interesting panels, we will wrap up with a familiar ECTA closing: an overview of the most recent EU case law moderated by Péter Lukácsi (SBGK Attorneys at law, HU).

1. Please introduce yourself and your link to ECTA.

My name is dr. Péter Lukácsi, attorney at law and partner at SBGK Attorneys at Law, an IP law firm in Budapest. I currently serve as one of the two Hungarian delegates on the ECTA Supervisory Board and I am also a member of the ECTA Design Committee. I first attended the ECTA Annual Conference in 2008 and I am proud to have attended all subsequent ones since then. I was a longstanding member of the ECTA Professional Affairs Committee, where I had the privilege to serve as Vice-Chair between 2010 and 2014 and as Chair between 2014 and 2020.

2. Please introduce your Conference session and its panel.

I am honoured to be the moderator of the 9th session ‘EU case law update’ to be held on Friday, 30 June, at the ECTA Annual Conference in Prague.

The panel will be composed of three excellent and distinguished speakers:

- Mr. Ioannis Dimitrakopoulos, Judge at the General Court of the EU and Senior Member of the Hellenic Council of State;
- Mr. João Negrão, President of the EUIPO Boards of Appeal;
- Ms. Andrea K. Marx, Vice-Chair of the ECTA Law Committee, and private practitioner at Harmsen Utescher rechtsanwalts partnerschaft mbb.

3. Why should Conference participants join your session, and at whom in particular will your session be directed?

The 9th (and last) session is a very popular session among ECTA members as it focuses on the recent and most relevant IP - in particular trade mark - case law developments in the EU. As such, this session will be directed at and will be highly important and interesting to all IP practitioners.

4. Why should IP colleagues register for the ECTA Annual Conference?

My personal experience spanning more than a decade is that ECTA Annual Conferences have been both highly valuable and enjoyable events, and the upcoming one promises the same!

The professional content is top quality, the programme offers excellent opportunities to network and meet friends from the IP world. Last but not least the host city of Prague is one of the most charming cities in Europe.
