ECTA OCTOBER BULLETIN IS OUT!
Many interesting insights in the IP field are waiting for you in the latest issue of the ECTA Bulletin!

You will know more about our newly created Data and International Trade Committee, their mission, plans and aspirations for the years to come.

This issue contains very engaging and interesting interviews. You will read about Amaryllis Verhoeven (Head of the Intellectual Property Unit at the European Commission, DG GROW F3), her career in IP and the main challenges facing the EU in the field of TM and design regulations, and you will also learn from Yo Takagi (WIPO Assistant Director General, Global Infrastructure Sector) about WIPO PROOF, the new WIPO service for IP professionals.

But that’s not all! Read about the growing recognition on IPRs in Africa, bad faith filings in PRC, important changes to the Romanian TM system, Cyprus’ efforts to align its laws with Directive 2015/2436 as well as the effect of Coronavirus on IP.

In the case law section, our members analysed two important decisions of the French Constitutional Court and CJEU about copyright infringers on the Internet and the proportionality of the mechanism to deal with this issue as well as United States Patent and TM Office vs. Booking.com, recently judged by the Supreme Court of the United States.

On the Bulletin pages you will find, for the very first time, the Book Review section, with an insight of the book Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Africa by Marius Schneider and Vanessa Ferguson, and you will surely learn more about the work of various ECTA Committees by reading their reports. Would you like to join one of the ECTA Committees? This is the right time to find out everything you need to know before the ECTA General Committee Elections that are coming up in January 2021, including learn from the testimonials of some long-standing Committee members!

Last but not least, our warm welcome to the new members of the ECTA family!

For ECTA members the print friendly pdf version is available in the Library section of the ECTA Private Site. Enjoy reading it!

Yours sincerely,
ECTA
