The Hague Yearly Review 2019 – International registration of industrial designs

The Hague Yearly Review published by WIPO provides an overview of applications and international registrations of industrial designs recorded in the Hague System. The report also contains information on the extent to which these international registrations are used by holders to protect their designs and to broaden their geographic coverage, as well as how international registrations are maintained over time.

According to the Review, applicants based in Europe accounted for 71.1% of all designs in 2018. However, following the recent accession of Japan and the Republic of Korea, the share of Asia has increased from 2.7% in 2008 to 20.4% in 2018. Germany has been the largest user of the Hague System for 33 consecutive years.
