WIPO LAUNCHED A NEW TOOL TO TRACK IP POLICY IN MEMBER STATES DURING COVID-19
11/05/2020
WIPO has unveiled COVID-19 Policy Tracker, a new tool that serves as an information repository of IP policy changes and other measures implemented by IP Offices in Member States, in response to the pandemic.

Such service is freely accessible and provides an overview from an initial group of a dozen countries, in order to assist applicants and owner of IP rights with the widest comprehension possible. Stakeholders are now able to easily navigate through operational changes and measures implemented by national and regional IP offices, as well as special measures taken by Member States and voluntary measures by private sector.

COVID-19 IP Policy Tracker is part of a series of measures taken by WIPO due to the pandemic. The Organization also provided a dashboard to allow Member States representatives and other stakeholders to view the evolution of WIPO IP services and its financial performance. Recently, WIPO Director General Mr. Francis Gurry issued a paper called ‘Some considerations on IP, innovation, access and COVID-19’ and released a public broadcast on WIPO 2019 results, highlights and challenges for 2020, as well as how the Organization is operating in the current situation.
