Mr Mombers graduated from the Law School at KU Leuven (BE). He is a qualified Benelux and European trade marks and designs attorney and a member of the Benelux Association for Trade Mark- and Design Law (BMM). Mr Mombers is Lead IP Counsel at Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) where he applies his all-round expertise in the fields of trade marks, designs, domain names, copyright and related matters in a wide variety of global day-to-day matters and strategic projects. He represents Signify at the Memorandum of understanding on the sale of counterfeit goods on the internet.
In 2005 Mr Mombers became a member of the Trade Mark Committee and Anti-Counterfeiting Committee of AIM – the European Brands Association. In 2010 Mr Mombers was one of the founding members of the EDB (now known as IPEP) at the EU Observatory (EUIPO). He continues to be an active member of the IPEP Working Group since. In 2015 he became chairman of AIM’s Anti-Counterfeiting Committee. In this capacity he is actively involved in the DSA debate at EU level in general and at Benelux level in particular.
He is also the chairman of WCO’s Rights Holders Consultative Group.
He is a welcomed speaker at many conferences and has lectured at the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights of the KU Leuven.
