Mr. Zhao joined Unitalen in 2002 and began to practice prosecution and protection of IP rights, with over 22 years’ professional experience in IP field. As a senior partner of Unitalen, he successively served as the Director of the Legal Department and the Director of the International Trademark Department, personally handled or guided other lawyers and agents to handle a large numbers of IP cases, and accumulated profound theoretical knowledge and practical experience. He is good at solving trademark disputes and trademark infringement problems through administrative and judicial procedures, and has successfully dealt with many quite difficult litigation and non-litigation cases.

Mr. Zhao has handled series cases related to IP prosecution and litigation of many domestic and foreign multinational companies, like Dr. Martens and Hugo Boss of Germany, McCain and Mackage of Canada, Icon and Visa of the United States, FMTM of Switzerland, Volvo of Sweden, Ferrari of Italy, China Mobile and China Re. He has also served as a perennial IP consultant for many famous listed companies, providing strategies and legal advices related to IP rights. Several cases handled by Mr. Zhao were rated by provincial high Courts as the top ten intellectual property cases of the year.

He is awarded gold tier of the Outstanding Individual Lawyer in China on both litigation and prosecution by WTR for more than 10 years in succession since 2013 until now. He is awarded Global Leader (another name best of best) from WTR 1000 in 2023 and 2024. He is awarded World’s Leading IP Strategists as IAM 300 in 2024. He is also awarded by WIPR leaders in 2023 and 2024. He is also awarded IP STAR of 2023 by MIP. He is continuously selected as the IP Experts TOP100 CHINA by ASIA IP in 2022 and 2023. He has been chosen by LEADERS IN LAW Awards as the winner for Trademark Law Expert of the Year in China in 2022 and 2023 Global Awards. He has been chosen as the winner of the 2023 and 2024 CORPORATE INTL Magazine Global Award as Trademark Attorney of the Year in China – 2023 and 2024.

And he is selected as Senior Talent and Extra Senior Talent into Trademark Talent Pool by Chinese Trademark Association in 2023. And he is also selected as Foreign-related Attorney Talent Pool by Beijing Bar Association in 2021. Meantime, Mr. Zhao is selected as the expert of Expert Pool of Beijing Intellectual Property Office in 2021, selected as the expert of Expert Pool of Changsha Intellectual Property Office in 2023, the expert of Expert Committee of Beijing Trademark Association in 2022, expert of Expert Pool for Beijing Famous Trademark Recognition Management Regulation in 2023. He is appointed to be the Senior Counsel of Talent and Education Committee of China Trademark Association. He is appointed as the Mediator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (from June 1 of 2023), Part-time Mediator of the People's Mediation Committee for Intellectual Property Disputes of China Trademark Association (from 2022). He is also awarded senior IP specialist by Beijing Human Resources and social security.

Mr. Zhao has been invited by CNIPA multiple times to participate in the revision of China's Trademark Law, Implementation Regulations, Trial Rules, Examination Guidelines, Standards for General Illegal Acts, and amendments concerning the standardization of trademark application behavior. He also participated many times in discussions and studies conducted by the National Intellectual Property Administration regarding laws and regulations.

He has also delivered keynote speeches at large seminars organized by many international associations and governments for so many times, including INTA, ECTA, FICPI, AIPPI China Branch and China Trademark Festival, systematically introducing China's intellectual property system.

Mr. Zhao is a member of many international organizations, such as FICPI, INTA, ECTA, MARQUES and AIPPI. He is also a member of All-China Lawyers Association, China Intellectual Property Research Society and China Trademark Association (CTA).

Mr. Zhao is council member of Program Advisory Council (2024-2025) of INTA and was the co-chair of the China Global Advisory Council (GAC) of INTA (from 2020 to 2022), being responsible for providing advice and suggestions to the Chairman the CEO of INTA, promoting regional policy development and cross-industry communication. And he is a member of Trademark Practice Committee of INTA.
