Marius Schneider
Member of the ECTA Anti-Counterfeiting Committee and the International Trade Committee, IPvocate and IPvocate Africa, BE and MU

Marius has more than 20 years’ experience in the field of intellectual property, of which more than 15 years in an African environment. He is a lawyer at the Brussels bar and registered as a Legal Adviser in Mauritius. He is the founder and director of IPvocate Africa, a boutique law firm focusing exclusively on the protection, management, and enforcement of IP rights in Africa.

He is the co-author of the Oxford University Press publication “Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Africa”. The book came out in 2020 and is the first work discussing intellectual property rights enforcement in all 54 African countries. He is the co-editor of the Oxford University Press publication ‘Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights through Border Measures – Law and Practice in the EU’, as well as the author of book chapters, articles and other contributions related to the enforcement of IP rights.

He is a member of the EU Observatory on intellectual property right infringements, a member and past chairman of the ECTA Anti-Counterfeiting Committee and one of the Editors of the Oxford University Press Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice.

He has served as a consultant on WIPO and EU missions to Africa and beyond, WCO training courses (Belgium), the Forum Institut and the Academy of European Law (Germany).

He is fluent in English, French, Dutch and German.
