Nick practices in all aspects of trade mark law in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, providing advice on trade mark clearance, prosecution, opposition and enforcement.

In addition to his experience of over 25 years in all aspects of Australian trade mark law, Nick is a recognised specialist in New Zealand trade mark law. Nick has taught New Zealand Trade Mark Law and New Zealand Trade Mark Practice as two parts of the University of Melbourne post-graduate LLM programme, for the last 15 years. He also sits on two separate Technical Focus Groups which advise the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) on matters of New Zealand trade mark practice and procedure.

Nick is a past chair of both the INTA Global Advisory Council (Asia Pacific) and INTA Anticounterfeiting Committee, as well as the contributor for Australia and New Zealand in the INTA International Certificate Program (2023).

His expertise has been recognised in both Australia and New Zealand, including as “Global Elite Thought Leader in Who’s Who Legal (2022, 2023), and related recognition in Best Lawyers, WIPR, WTR1000, International Law Office Client Choice Awards.
