EUIPO: EXTENSION OF TIME LIMITS DUE TO COVID-19
16/03/2020
As a result of the spread of COVID-19, declared as a pandemic by WHO, the EUIPO Executive Director issued EX-20-3 decision of today, that extends all time limits, expiring between 9 March 2020 and 30 April 2020 and that affect all parties before the Office, to 1 May 2020.

In order to get further guidance on Decision No EX-20-3, about the time limits affected by the extension, the nature of the extension and the measures to adapt communications sent to users, please read HERE.

ECTA addressed a request to this end to the EUIPO last week (as well as to WIPO and EPO).

Following the 'state of alarm' activated by the Spanish government on 14 March, the EUIPO decided to implement its Business Continuity Protocol immediately, in order to preserve the health of its staff and stakeholders and minimise the business disruption.

With effect from today, EUIPO staff members will work from home. Business and communications with stakeholders and users, including MBBC members, will continue remotely and meetings will be held via digital tools. External visitors won't be allowed to enter the EUIPO's premises in Alicante.

National IP Offices also implemented measures in consequence of COVID-19 outbreak. For the live updates in this regard, please follow the WTR page.
