The new Report on the EU Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights: Results at the EU Borders and in Member States 2013-2017 aims to shed light on the enforcement trends within the EU. It is the first joint analysis of two different sources of data, namely, the detentions at EU borders and within national markets reported in the IP Enforcement Portal by the EU Commission (DG TAXUD) and by the national enforcement authorities. The joint EUIPO - EPO study Intellectual Property Rights Intensive Industries and Economic Performance in the European Union – 3rd Edition is the latest update in a series which provides an assessment of the combined contribution to the economies of the EU from industries that make intensive use of the different types of intellectual property rights. The study, which considers the period 2014-2016, confirms the economic benefits for Europe of trade marks, designs, patents, copyright, geographical indications (GI) and plant variety rights.
